Bud, its days like today that I like to sit back and reflect.
There wasn’t an hour in it that was filled with neglect.
I was fortunate that “if” it turns out to be my last day,
I got to spend it with family and I watched the kids play.
I got to hang out with some out of town cousins of mine,
and an aunt whose husband has about run out of time.
I watched a sad movie with your mom and didn’t even cry.
I got to stare at that wonderful twinkle she has in her eye.
I got to experience the pride only a father can feel.
I got to share a love that was so incredibly real.
I got to give out lots of hugs to many people I love,
and I gave all the credit for it to our Lord up above.
I didn’t worry about politics or crazy things going on.
I lived today just in case tomorrow I’m gone.
Love you son! Live for today, love all you can,
I’ll be back at it tomorrow if that is His plan.
Dad
Romans 12:9-13: Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
