Sue, or forgive you?

Son, the other day you had asked your mom and me what a lawsuit was.   We told you that we are a society that is slow to forgive and quick to sue.  I tried to explain how frivolous law suits cost us all more money for things we buy like insurance for example.  People are looking for monetary gain for every mistake or accident that happens to them.

Yes, sometimes law suits are warranted as people who do stupid things need some sort of punishment so they don’t do it again.  This comes into play for people or companies who purposefully try to defraud others.

Here is a statistic that should help explain it more:

In the USA we have 80% of the world’s lawyers, and yet we only have 5% of the world’s population.   This is a big part of the problem!

Try to forgive first,

Dad

Luke 17:3-4

So watch yourselves.

“If your brother or sister[a] sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”
