There is only one you need to impress

In this country we are growing further and further away from God. Billy Graham gave his last sermon not long ago. He warned us that Christians must not adhere to the culture we are seeing develop in this great country of ours. It’s almost getting to the point where being a Christian and spreading God’s word is looked down upon. If you read the news you will see countless storiesĀ about why Christians aren’t going to church, and how atheists are now forming their own non-religious Sunday gatherings. There are very few stories about the miracles God performs in people’s lives and how life changes once you accept Jesus in to your heart. Just about every day you will hear about how the word “God” is being removed from schools, government buildings and other public places. Christmas plays and nativity scenes are being replaced with Happy Holiday events and Santa. Leaders of faith are falling from grace, and the only stories highlighted are those of betrayal and scandal in the church.

As a society we are too worried about offending others with our faith. We are fearful of humiliation or being labeled as a “holy roller” and becoming an outcast. My advice to you is something I struggled to overcome. “Be yourself, don’t worry about what others think of you.” I wish I would have been able to do this sooner in life. Instead I was way too concerned with dressing the right way, having nice things, and being liked. I would think about people’s reactions to me or what I said way too often. I lived my life to please others and their artificial expectations of me. Unfortunately this is the world we are living in. It is better to fit in than stand out. It is ok to talk the talk, but not walk it. If people like you, everything is great. Beauty Is skin deep, and It’s ok to cheat if you don’t get caught.

Don’t fall into these traps. There is only ONE that you need to impress. Be strong and confident in your faith. Without it, there is little hope. God blesses those who believe and share their testimony. He won’t reward you with a miracle within 5 minutes of simply passing on a Facebook post. The real prize comes when our short life on earth has ended and we get to enjoy eternity with him.

Your time on earth is a test. Will you stand up for him, or will you deny him in front of others because you are worried about what they will think of you?

Galatians 1:10 NIV
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
